1) The one on the left seems too happy to see you, the one on the right doesn't seem to care. I vote no.
2) Never trust anybody named Tex.

It's actually brilliant. Honestly, I have never played a F2P MMO before that is this refined and polished. It comes extremely close to World of Warcraft in those areas, and what's more, it's actually more enjoyable than the aforementioned game (even though, in most things, it is a WoWclone and does not try to hide it). Once it is fully localized (those moonrunes down there in blue are actually the name of a bow I found :x), I am quite confident that it is going to suck in quite a lot of players from the current P2P game market.

Tell me when it's fully localized. 'Til then, I'll stick with Atlantica Online.

Game is bad just like all Asian MMORPG's are, and I hope I don't have to go into why. The feeling of grandeur and polishedness will go away soon enough.

Every Korean MMORPG is the exact same, with good reason. It is polished for a F2P game, but F2P games have Cash Shops which in Asian markets turn a profit that makes more than Guild Wars has ever made in its entire life cycle in only a few months. Asian markets are BIG on cash shops. They will pay money for the most useless shit ever. A hat with a slightly different model that does absolutely nothing? They'll pay for it. It's like if you had to pay 5$ for a Halloween mask in Guild Wars, except they do it like EVERY DAY. (and it's cheaper, but you get my point.) So they actually make quite a bit of money off of these "F2P" MMO's, which makes them a bit more polished, and then they come over to America and it seems all grand and "whoah so polished for a F2P game!" and then you realize that its still an MMO built on being a huge grind so the asians will use the Cash Shop except the Cash Shop is a huge failure system in American and European markets, it becomes really buggy, there's a lack of content (since most of the content is built on you using the broken Cash Shop items to advance.), it's F2P and Americans are asses so the community sucks and is made up of kids (think Random Arenas on crack), and the grind and leveling goes through the roof and the game comes close to Lineage 2 epic grinding. (but not exact, I mean L2 is a game where you have to do a 150v150 PvP fight, and then the living people (so if you die you're screwed out of the raid) have to race to a raid instance (so if someone griefs you or you get D/C'd or something and can't make the timer, you're screwed out of the raid) just to have a very small chance to get loot (since you went from a party of 150 to a party of 15 and will probably die and thus screwed out of the raid) and not die because its that hardcore.)
But none of this ever becomes readily apparent until the mid-game, because Asian MMORPG's are good at making good initial impressions, but half way through it becomes apparent how bad they are. Nothing is gonna compete with World of Warcraft for casual MMORPG in the asian market at this point, and everything else is really just the same. :\
I mean, if you get to the mid level point/towards end-game and you tell me it's still good maybe I'll try it out, but after playing pretty much every Asian MMORPG I could get my hands on (both in their native tongue and localized, mostly localized though), I do not have high hopes here. Sorta gave up hope on these types of games a long time ago. :|

Out of all the azntown MMOs I have played (and I've played a lot; if you drop into IRC and ask around, you'll probably get told about all sorts of games I have been trying to drag them into for the past three years), none have given me as good of a first impression as this one has (especially that Perfect World bullshit, I mean come on, the jump key LAUNCHES YOU INTO SPACE, what the hell is that?). Yes, it suffers from CSitis, so there is a natural "ew" factor to it, but the game play itself is far superior to that of any aznmo I've seen yet.
It's too soon for me to call Runes a great game, but from all I have been reading over the past several months as well as all I have seen from personal play experience so far, my hopes are quite high for this particular Asian game. If they make playing high level content too dependent on the CS, I will certainly cry a bit, but if it's as good at level XXX as it is at level 15 (which from all reports, it is, due to various mechanics that honestly both WoW and GW could benefit from picking up), then I'll ignore the fact that it costs me a few dollars every month to keep up. In an age where the best online fantasy games cost you around $14.99 a month to play, dropping $5-10 every 30 days to renew some armor or something doesn't seem like that big of a deal, although it does remove the F2P factor that makes the game worth starting in the first place (but if it's worth continuing when you get to that point, why not?).
For now, Runes has my support. Once all of the stress testing is done and they wipe the database so everyone can start fresh to end the closed beta and usher in the open one, I'll be sure to return to this subject periodically to give updates on how I feel the game is progressing and developing, for better or for worse (and I think fallot and Symeon may show up with their own input, as well).
